Younger cattle sold well at Stortford Lodge yesterday in a store sale described as strong.

The best of the 18-month steers on offer made up to $3.24/kg while angus heifers made $2.89/kg.

The feature of the cattle sale was the 94 18-month angus steers from H and A McCallum, Taupo.

In the sheep pens longer term lambs sold surprisingly well in a mixed-quality yarding.

A feature of the sheep sale was the 1300 lambs from Hurakia, Taupo. The lambs were showing the effects of the lack of rain elsewhere in the North Island.

Buyers for the yarding of about 500 cattle and 2500 sheep were from Hawke's Bay with one from Taupo and one from Rangitikei.

Small yardings in all sections again made it difficult to draw conclusions at Monday's sale.
There were two cows, 81 lambs and about 700 ewes.

Everything sold in line with their quality.
