Inclement weather has kept stock sales up at Stortford Lodge.

Inclement weather has kept stock sales up at Stortford Lodge.

Good rainfall and the prospect of more meant a solid store sale at Stortford Lodge yesterday. A yarding of almost 600 cattle of generally top quality sold to big bench of buyers.

Two pens of well-grown weaner angus steers weighing in at 293kg and 233kg sold for $4.26/kg and $4.15/kg.

A small yarding of good store lambs, including almost 1300 from Glendale Station, Aropaoanui, sold well. Longer-term lambs sold particularly well.

Prices eased all round at Monday's sale which reflected the quality of the offering.
Most of the offering of 50 head of cattle were female and were back about 10c/kg on the last sale last year.

The ewe yarding lacked the heavy ewes of last week as did the lambs.
