Store lambs sold well at Stortford Lodge.

Store lambs sold well at Stortford Lodge.

All classes of stock sold on a strong market at yesterday's Stortford Lodge store sale.

A big yarding of more than 800 cattle and 6000 sheep was in demand from buyers from Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Waikato and Christchurch.

The best of the store lambs broke through the $180 mark while ewes with terminal lambs at foot reached $113.50 all counted. In-lamb ewes made up to $190.

In the cattle sale good two-year-old angus and angus-cross heifers made up to $3.13/kg.

A feature of the cattle sale was the 186 capital stock in-calf cows and heifers from Trelinnoe Station, Te Pohue. The farm has been sold.

PRIME SALE

The good news continued for suppliers of ewes and lambs at Monday's prime sale.
Lambs were particularly buoyant with even second-tier lambs selling strongly.
The best of the male lambs made $226 with more pens than usual in the yarding of about 1200 head breaking through $200.

In the ewe yarding of about 620 head the best, a pen of four woolly ewes, made $189.70.
The rest of the yarding also sold on a sound market.

The small yarding of 26 head of cattle sold to expectations with a pen of vic angus cows making 245c/kg. One big angus-cross ox made 293.5c/kg or $2302/head.
