Rain, the promise of grass growth and finishers with contracts to fill meant store lambs were fully firm on last week at Stortford Lodge yesterday.

A small yarding of quality cattle was also in strong demand.

Ewes with lambs at foot were also up on last week for a quality yarding.

A feature of the yarding of about 150 head was the number of dairy breed stock on offer.

In-calf cows, heifers, empty cows, steers and yearling bulls were all on offer. The number of lambs from Pitt Island and Chatham Island were also a feature.

They sold well.

Buyers for the cattle and about 2500 sheep came from Rangitikei, Manawatu, Gisborne and Masterton as well as Hawke's Bay.
