Rongotea Sale Report 24th April 2019

Although it was a small sale at Rongotea this week due to the short week, there was plenty of enthusiasm for the heavier cattle on offer and the calf pens showed plenty of competition with the top calves making over $400 reported Darryl Harwood of NZ Farmers Livestock.
2 year cross bred steers 500 kg made $1320.

2 year Galloway bulls 410 kg made $840 and cross bred bulls 360 kg – 400 kg traded from $1.65/kg - $2.29/kg.

2 year Friesian – Hereford cross heifers 417 kg – 585 kg made $1070 - $1570, Charolais cross heifers 635 kg made $1705 and Belted Galloway heifers 345 kg made $500.

Weaner Beef Shorthorn steers 263 kg made $745, Friesian – Hereford cross steers 172 kg made $590, Angus cross steers 155 kg made $400 and Belted Galloway cross steers 120 kg made $380.

Weaner Friesian bulls 250 kg - 265 kg made $475 - $560, Friesian – Hereford bulls 165 kg made $450, Murray Grey cross bulls 315 kg made $590 and Angus cross bulls 260 kg made $590.

Weaner Friesian – Hereford heifers 154 kg made $550 and Friesian cross heifers 142 kg made $300.

In the calf pens, Friesian bull calves made $250 - $310, Friesian – Hereford bull calves made $180 - $415, Angus cross bull calves made $200 - $300 and Speckle Park cross bull calves made $280. Friesian – Hereford heifer calves made $160 - $320, Speckle Park cross heifer calves made $200 - $290 and Angus cross heifer calves made $150 - $180.

Levin Stock Sale report:

A small sale after the long weekend which is the norm.
Calves – Freisian bulls $190 - $240. Sheep – ewes $130 - $170, lambs $70 - $100. Cattle Wnr bulls $590, wnr heifers $410 - $560.
