A seminar on breeding and feeding healthy velvet stags will be held on a Fordell farm next week.

The regional workshop is a joint effort between Dairy Industry New Zealand and the Ministry of Primary Industries.

It will discuss the feed requirements of velvet stags, wintering of stags on fodder beet, the health of velvet stags, genetics and keeping records.

It is being held at the Laird Partnership property woolshed, 861 No 2 Line Fordell, on Tuesday and gets under way at 11am with coffee available beforehand.

It includes a tour of the farm.
