Is sheep milk the way of the future for New Zealand dairy?

The Country's Jamie Mackay interviews the Chief Executive of the Spring Sheep Milk Company Scottie Chapman to find out!

Sheep milk has become in vogue lately as people look to milk anything other than cows due to the troubles of the dairy industry. In fact the Spring Sheep Milk Company has been doing so well they've been nominated for an award alongside dairy giant Fonterra at the World Dairy Innovation Awards in London.

A joint venture between Chapman's company and Landcorp, Spring Sheep Milk Company turns the usual New Zealand business model on its head by working on a 'demand and supply' strategy.

Sheep milk has great nutritional content and taste according to Scottie so it's no wonder their ice cream has made it to the big leagues at the World Dairy Innovation Awards.

Jamie wonders if sheep milk will ever threaten dairy or will it always come second?

Scottie isn't sure but he also isn't bothered - he doesn't want to be the biggest, he just wants to be the best!
