A big yarding of 2-year-old cattle made for spirited bidding, reported Darryl Harwood of New Zealand Farmers Livestock.

3-year Friesian steers 530kg made $2.43/kg.

2-year Hereford-Friesian cross steers 289-496 kg made $2.58-$3.04/kg, Angus cross steers 330-507kg made $2.83-$3.03/kg, and Speckle Park cross steers 465kg made $3.01/kg. Charolais cross steers 340kg made $3.15/kg and Friesian steers 298-440kg made $2.60/kg.

2-year Hereford-Friesian cross heifers 295-483 kg made $2.49-$3.08/kg, Angus cross heifers 318-440kg made $2.61-$2.74/kg, and Charolais cross heifers 375kg made $2.91/kg.

Yearling Hereford-Friesian cross steers 215kg made $3.05/kg and Angus cross steers 205kg made $2.49/kg.

Yearling Friesian bulls 150-170kg made $400-$500 and Friesian cross bulls 160kg made $2.56/kg.

Yearling Hereford-Friesian cross heifers 172-310kg made $2.45-$4.08/kg and Angus cross heifers 171kg made $2.34/kg.

Weaner Hereford-Friesian cross steers 153-193kg made $565-$625.

Weaner Angus cross bulls 184kg made $510.

Weaner Hereford-Friesian cross heifers 125-142kg made $485-$550.

Boner Jersey cows 360-447kg made $1.43-$1.47/kg.

In the calf pens, Friesian bull calves made $50-$190, Hereford-Friesian cross bull calves made $90-$210, and Jersey bull calves made $150. Hereford-Friesian cross heifer calves made $90-$250 and Speckle Park cross heifer calves made $200.
