A smaller than usual sale with wet weather the major problem, but still prices were on a par with outside markets.

Calf section: F/H bulls $270, F/H heifers$190 - $250. Sheep - fat ewes $85, fat lambs $100, store lambs $80 - $85. Cattle - 2-year-old F/H steers $1160, 2-year-old heifers $850 - $1000, top pen Angus weaner steers $830.

Conditions underfoot are extremely wet but the Feilding sale is still going well with strong demand for autumn-born weaner bulls. Phone David Haworth for more on 027 450 4133 or 06 368 2642.

There was a big yarding of in-calf Friesian heifers today with strong interest from dairy farmers looking to top up their numbers.

Two-year-old white face steers 362 kg -- 645 kg made up to $1650 ($2.20 -- $2.55), Friesian steers 330 kg -- 409 kg made up to $890 ($1.88 -- $2.17) and cross breed steers 350 kg made up to $600 ($1.71).

Two-year-old Jersey bulls 610 kg made $1600 ($2.62).

Two-year-old white face heifers 385 kg -- 577 kg made up to $1560 ($2.06 -- $2.70) and Angus heifers 425 kg made $1080 ($2.54). Friesian heifers 340 kg -- 372 kg made up to $870 ($2.00 -- $2.33) and cross breed heifers 370 kg -- 415 kg made up to $845 ($1.89 -- $2.04).

Fifteen-month-old cross breed steers 400 kg -- 445 kg made up to $1120 ($2.12 -- $2.52).

Fifteen-month-old Friesian bulls 325 kg made $780 ($2.40).

Fifteen-month-old Angus heifers 350 kg made $600 ($1.71) and Jersey heifers 316 kg -- 345 kg made up to $555 ($1.42 -- $1.71).

Yearling beef cross steers 335 kg made $900 ($2.69).

Yearling white face bulls 410 kg made $970 ($2.37) and cross breed bulls 280 kg made $735 ($2.62).

Yearling Angus heifers 313 kg made $770 ($2.45).

Yearling white face heifers 144 kg -- 176 kg made up to $650 ($3.69 -- $4.16), Friesian heifers 146 kg made $375 ($2.57) and cross breed heifers 139 kg made $410 ($2.95).

Weaner white face steers 130 kg -- 266 kg made up to $690 ($2.44 -- $3.58), Charolais cross steers 265 kg made $700 ($2.64) and Galloway steers 225 kg made $550 ($2.44).

Weaner Friesian bulls 131 kg -- 175 kg made up to $550 ($2.90 -- $3.14) and white face bulls 117 kg -- 137 kg made up to $600 ($3.59 -- $5.09).

Weaner white face heifers 118 kg -- 276 kg made up to $750 ($1.84 -- $4.24) and Friesian heifers 115 kg -- 292 kg made up to $475 ($1.39 -- $1.62). Angus cross heifers 185 kg made $640 ($3.44) and Murray Grey heifers 150 kg made $430 ($2.87).

In calf Friesian heifers made $900 -- $1300.

Friesian boner cows 447 kg -- 546 kg made up to $950 ($1.35 -- $1.76) and cross breed boners 366 kg -- 458 kg made up to $740 ($1.14- $1.36). Jersey boners 388 kg -- 510 made up to $650 ($1.27 -- $1.62).

Porkers made $60 -- $70 and weaner pigs made $35 -- $75.

RWR ewes made $71 -- $76 and mixed sex lambs made $51 -- $95.

Friesian bull calves made $240 -- $370 and white face bull calves made $180 -- $350. Angus cross bull calves made $200 -- $300. White face heifer calves made $200 -- $375, Angus cross heifer calves made $180 -- $365 and Friesian heifer calves made $60 -- $120.
