The Levin sale was not big in numbers but was a sound market for all stock.

Friesian bull calf $100.

In lamb ewes $105-$130, store lambs $90-$100 - small $50.

Cattle - weaner Friesian/Hereford steers $830, $780, $680 smaller and lesser sorts $400-$530.

Cattle and sheep still selling well at Feilding Sale, 3000 ewes, 17000 lambs, 1000 cattle sold well to a big bench of buyers from all over the North Island.

Rongotea Stock Sale

The sale at Rongotea had some nice Angus weaner and yearling bulls and heifers from the Wellington hills.

The sale also had the last of the autumn-born white face and Angus cross feeder calves and the first of the spring born Friesian bull calves for sale.

Two-year-old white face bulls 340 kg - 845 kg made up to $2010 ($2.38 - $2.91) and Hereford bulls 430 kg - 615 kg made up to $1280 ($2.08 - $2.88). Cross breed bulls 555 kg made $1440 ($2.59).

Two-year-old white face heifers 362 kg - 588 kg made up to $1660 ($1.96 - $2.82), cross breed heifers 380 kg - 440 kg made up to $915 ($2.16 - $2.41) and Jersey heifers 248 kg made $490 ($1.97).

Fifteen-month-old 298 kg - 400 kg made up to $1120 ($2.80).

Yearling white face steers 150 kg made $715 ($4.77).

Yearling Friesian bulls 192 kg - 245 kg made up to $755 ($3.08 - $3.53) and Angus bulls 205 kg - 367 kg made up to $1085 ($2.49 - $2.95).

Yearling white face heifers 155 kg - 267 kg made up to $670 ($2.24 - $4.32), Angus heifers 296 kg made $870 ($2.94), Murray Grey heifers 185 kg made $560 ($3.02) and Friesian heifers 235 kg made $560 ($2.38).

Weaner Angus bulls 242 kg made $775 ($3.20).

Friesian cows with a calf at foot made $885 and Jersey cows with a calf at foot made $830.

Cross breed boner cows 520 kg made $880 ($1.69) and beef cross boners 545 kg made $950 ($1.74).

Weaner pigs made $58 - $86.

Ewes with lambs at foot made $56 and mixed sex lambs made $50 - $94.

Friesian bull calves made $175 - $270, white face bull calves made $150 - $380 and Angus cross bull calves made $250 - $410.

White face heifer calves made $180 - $380, Angus cross heifer calves made $220 - $355 and Friesian heifer calves made $100.
