Pleasant Point shearer Ant Frew returned triumphantly to the scene of his first open final win in New Zealand, when he claimed a second Methven Lambshears title at the Methven A and P Show on Saturday.

Frew first won the title in 2017, three weeks after reaching the Golden Shears open semi-final in Masterton.

Frew was first to finish, beating Southland shearers Ringakaha Paewai, of Gore, and 2019 Otago Shears winner Brett Roberts, of Mataura.

Alex Smith, of Rakaia, scored an important win in the senior final in which prolific finals winner Lionel Taumata, of Gore, was third.

Mitchell Menzies, of Ranfurly, won the intermediate final by 0.31pts from Tyson Crown, of Mataura, and Henry Mayo, from England, had his 10th win of the season by claiming the junior title.
