Seed Force fodder beet has witnessed incredible growth in the market nationwide this season, as farmers enjoy 'unbeetable' results.

Seed Force Southern South Island territory manager Liam Donnelly says farmers in the dairy and sheep and beef sectors are delivered a high-quality end product.

"Fodder beet is a high-value crop and, grown correctly, it's a low-cost crop with high ME."

Fodder beet offers greater flexibility to growers.

"Now we are milking in autumn on the crop, feeding through winter and milking in spring when the cows come home."

This quality is a big driver for both dairy and beef farmers, who are looking for excellent liveweight gains.

"It has been really successful, with rising two-year animals and now also rising one-year and early weaned calves going onto the crop until the spring grass kicks into gear," Donnelly says.

Top producers are finishing steers at 14 to 16 months on fodder beet.

Due to high demand, Seed Force is making two new medium dry matter varieties available this season -- Collose and Cosima.

"We are happy with their performance and we have seed available."

Collose will be available in late October and Donnelly says it stacks up well in terms of yield.

"Collose has a very high percentage of leaf as part of its yield, which is good for the beef industry looking to drive those liveweight gains. It is also robust in the face of disease pressure."

Cosima will be available in early to mid-November.

For farmers who want to access superior beet crops, Seed Force has seed available and their team of nationwide experts work closely with key industry players, as well as being available on-farm, to deliver top results to farmers.

"We can ensure you achieve top results, we have a great prescription to get the best out of people's crops," Donnelly says.
