A passion for agriculture and a dedication for school work has landed three high school students with a scholarship each.
The recipients of the Whangarei A&P Society scholarships had been nominated by their schools and following interviews with A&P team, bagged a cool $1000 each.
Krystal Ryan of Bream BayCollege has chosen to study a Bachelor of Science and diploma in marine studies at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in the Bay of Plenty in 2017, while Bill Hamilton of Whangarei Boys' High School will be studying a Bachelor of Agriculture Science at the Massey University in Palmerston North.
Amy Burns of Tauraroa Area School will be studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University in Palmerston North.
Awarding the students, Whangarei A&P Society president Murray Jagger said the society was delighted to be able to contribute some financial assistance to Northland's young people who had a desire to succeed in the diverse but rewarding agricultural sector.
"These scholarships are designed to reward students who have demonstrated a passion and desire to further their career in the agricultural sector and it is very rewarding being in a position to provide a helping hand to some of Northland's highschool graduates."
The students can use the money to pay for anything from course fees to equipment.
