This week on The Best of The County, Jamie Mackay caught up with Rabobank chief executive Todd Charteris to announce the winners of the 2021 Good Deeds Initiative.
This week's top interviews were:
Prof Keith Woodford:
We talked to a leading former Lincoln University academic who reckoned institutional investors and speculators outgunned the Government at last week's carbon auction. He said this could result in the "greatest land-use changes, both intended and unintended, that New Zealand has seen in the last 100 years".
Marc Rivers:
Fonterra's chief financial officer commented on a very good GDT auction (plus 4 per cent, WMP + 3.3 per cent, SMP + 7.3 per cent). Plus, we looked at new season volumes, world production and the shipping challenges facing the industry.
Tangaroa Walker:
The inspirational Southland dairy farmer is "evangelical about the joys of rural life". He is also the man behind Farm4Life and on-line education platform The Hub.
Todd Charteris and Janelle Downs:
Rabobank's chief executive announced the winners of the 2021 Rabobank Good Deeds Initiative. We headed to Taranaki, South Canterbury and Southland with some good news and a helping hand for three wonderful rural community projects.
Jane Smith:
The North Otago farmer and award-winning environmentalist was in an on-going battle with Stats NZ. Plus, she was none-too pleased with James Shaw's carbon emissions at a time when the farming community is in the gun from the government.
Chris Russell:
This week we found our Australian correspondent on the Nullabor Plain halfway between Perth and Adelaide. We talked 9/11, the lucky state in the Lucky Country, Mad Cow Disease, wool and rugby.
