Rising 1 year steers made $630 to $700. 1 year bulls fetched $575 to $615. 18 month heifers sold for $820 to $860 and 15 months $700 to $755. Rising 1 year heifers made $575 to $610. Good feeder calves made $310 to $322, then $225 to $268. Medium calves made $180 to $220 then $115 to $132 down to $80. Light calves made $22 to $80.
Wellsford Sale:
Tuesday saw a medium size sale at Wellsford with no report from a small Monday offering. Values were quoted as very firm for sheep and the few cattle. Heavy ox sold for $2272 to $2427 (3.01c-3.02c) then $1807 to $1810 (2.93c-2.95c) medium steers made $1463 to $1671 (2.81c-2.86c) and light steers $1021 to $1062 (2.55c-2.76c).
2 year heifers sold for $1246 to $1395 (2.71c-2.79c). Heavy manufacturing cows sold for $1171 to $1576 (2.19c-2.55c) then $1003 to $1058 (2.27c-2.39c). Good medium cows made $906 to $988 (2.09c-2.23c) and light to medium cows $788 to $834 (1.98c-2.14c)
Sheep:
Prime lambs sold for $118 to $128 then $102 to $112. Good store lambs made $100 to $109 then $86 to $92. Prime wethers made $90 . Good mixed age ewes made $90 to $98 and thin ewes $31.
Kauri Sale:
Kauri sale on Tuesday 4th July was a light mixed offering of store cattle and feeder calves. The sale was firm. 18 month Angus cross steers made $735. 15 month Murray Grey steers made $770 and cross breds $620.
Two-year heifers and a steer fetched $980. 18 month Hereford cross heifers made $830. 1 year White face heifers made $680. Angus cross weaners made $350. The 99 feeder spring calves sold reasonable well to a little mixed. Good calves fetched $300 to $315 with mediums $200 to $260. Light calves $100 to $120 down to $40 to $85.
Kaikohe Sale:
Another medium entry of 450 cattle at Kaikohe on Wednesday 5th July. The market was quoted as firm to quite buoyant. 2 year Angus, Hereford cross, and Whiteface steers sold for $1280 to $1400 (2.84c-3.00c) then $1030 to $1200 (2.90c-3.00c) 18 month steers sold for $835 to $950 (3.61c-4.33c).
Heavy bulls sold for $1355 to $1360 (2.86c) and 18 month bulls $865 to $1080 (2.35c-2.65c) down to $780 to $795 (3.67c-3.68c). Rising 1 year bulls made $700 to $820 (3.40c-3.60c) then Angus, Hereford, Exotic and Beef bulls made $700 to $790 (3.15c-3.25c). Autumn Angus bulls sold for $770 to $850 (3.80c-4.00c). Rising 1 year Whiteface steers made $830-$850 (4.00c-4.20c). Rising 2 year heifers, Hereford cross and Angus made $950 to $1150 (2.65c-2.75c).
Lots of rising 1 year Angus and Exotic heifers sold for $580 to $650 (3.00c-3.05c). A large entry of cows saw rising 3 year white face sell for $1130 to $1300 (2.40c-2.44c) Heavy 2 year heifers sold for $1115 to $1340 (2.29c-2.56c) and 18 month heifers $895 (2.20c) with light heifers $750 to $770 (2.58c-2.72c).
Heavy Friesian cows made $1030 to $1230 (2.10c-2.11c) then $100 to $1120 (1.90c-1.95c) down to $800 to $845 (1.86c-1.84c). Light Angus, Jersey and Ayrshire cows sold for $500 to $650 to $730 (1.64c-1.70c).
