The Apple and Pear Board has appointed two new members to its apple and pear export permits committee.
They are former Pipfruit Growers chairman Richard Easton, director of several packhouse groups and a flower exporter, and Peter Beaven, who will step down as Apple Exporters Forum chairman.
The committee decides who can
export apples alongside near-monopoly marketer Enza.
The alternative exports must be complementary to Enza's efforts.
Last month, the former deputy chief executive of Trade NZ, John Jenner, replaced retiring committee chairman Richard Janes.
The other committee members are Jim Scotland, Graham Robertson and Lisa Cork.
Board chairman John Isles said he was pleased with the committee's first season of operation in "setting up equitable process for applications."
The committee granted export permits for around two million cartons.
