By PHILIPPA STEVENSON

Former Chief District Court Judge Peter Trapski has become chairman of the new regulatory body Kiwifruit New Zealand.

The board, which came into existence last week under legislation separating industry regulatory functions from marketing, will monitor the performance of Zespri International and also appoint companies to market collaboratively with
it.

Judge Trapski, who lives in the Bay of Plenty and whose main field is now arbitration and mediation, was appointed to the independent role by his four fellow board members, Hendrik Peters, Malcolm Cartwright, Bruce Abrahams and Terry Richards.
