It was standing room only as the Ministry for Primary Industries held a meeting at the Morven Community Hall in Waimate last night to address farmer concerns surrounding the Mycoplasma bovis outbreak.
More than 300 people attended the meeting, which is the sixth since the bacterial cattle disease was discoveredon farms near Waimate in July.
Farmer John Gregan attended last night and gave an update on the latest from MPI The Country's Andy Thompson.
Gregan says it was "standing room only" at the hall, with not only farmers attending but a mixture of rural professionals, including vets and people from milk companies.
MPI plans to have all affected farms "depopulated" by Christmas and farmers will be compensated for the animals and the loss of production.
Also in today's interview Andy and John discuss how farmers in the region are feeling and also how tough this situation has been on individual farming families.
