"I had a great week in the North Island, travelling around the Farmlands stores and then spending three days at Fieldays."
He said he had enjoyed his time getting to know his fellow contestants as well.
"Competing with the boys - great bunch of lads - and some pretty cool gumboots girls as well," he laughed.
When asked how he felt about winning the competition, he said: "Bloody good."
He thanked his family and supporters and also paid tribute to his fellow bachelors, who he said was a good bunch of lads.
The eight finalists came from all around the country, as well as one hopeful originally from Queensland.
The young men carried out various tasks throughout the week, showing off their agricultural skills as well as other skills, including showing off their cooking abilities.
Hundreds of people turned out to see who would be named winner at this year's popular Fieldays event, held at Mystery Creek.
Comedian Te Radar hosted the Rural Bachelor event; attracting lots of laughter and banter from both the crowd and the contestants.
The Bachelor NZ contestant, Hannah Howley, was among those who came out to check out the competition.
She laughed when approached, saying she thought it was fitting to stop by at Fieldays to see what the Rural Bachelor had to offer.
After posing for photos with a couple of the hopefuls, she said she was stoked she had come out today.
"These are definitely my type of guys," she said.
