  • A person sustained serious injuries in an animal attack on a rural Manawatū property.
  • Police were notified of the Makino Rd attack at 2:15pm; emergency services responded.
  • The animal involved has been destroyed, and the victim has been transported to hospital.

A person has suffered serious injuries after an animal attack at a rural Manawatū property.

Police said they were notified of the attack about 2.15pm on Makino Rd in Halcombe this afternoon.

Emergency services responded and the animal involved has been destroyed, police said.

Hato Hone St John said they were notified of a farm incident in Halcombe and responded with an ambulance, rapid response unit, and manager.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient in a serious condition who was transported to Palmerston North hospital,” St John said.

Manawatū District Council has been approached for comment.
