Emergency services staff and locals work to free stock from a stock trailer that overturned on Ida Valley-Omakau Rd at Poolburn yesterday.
The Beckers Transport truck was transporting bobby calves and sheep and two sheep were killed in the crash about 10.15am.
Stock in the front trailer were unharmed, aswas the truck driver. Senior Constable Darren Cox, of Omakau, said the situation could have been worse. He was grateful locals came to assist with the removal of stock from the tipped trailer.
"That's often the case with small towns, anyone will give a hand. I couldn't have done it all by myself."
Power was off in parts of Ida Valley-Omakau Rd following the crash, in which a power pole was damaged. Beckers Transport did not respond to a request for comment. The cause of the crash was not yet known.
