The Country: The New Zealand First leader talks tough on Muslims, GDT and the Battle of Messines.

Things got educational on The Country today when New Zealand First Leader Winston Peters decided to school host Jamie Mackay on economics.

The latest positive GDT result had Mackay daring Peters to rain on dairy's parade but Peters shot back with "I don't know how you do your economics on The Farming Show".

After an awkward reminder that he was talking to The Country, Peters continued reprimanding Mackay about break-even prices and interest rates before questioning Jamie's maths skills.

Along with this economic exchange Winston Peters talks tough on Muslims before moving on to a history lesson about the Battle of Messines.

Listen to the full interview in the audio clip above.
