Today on The Country radio show, host Jamie Mackay catches up with NZ First MP Shane Jones, who says his party supports more dairy conversions in New Zealand.

On with the show:

Shane Jones:

We catch up with the Mighty Matua, AKA, the Prince of the Provinces.

Today, he illuminates and entertains on subjects as diverse as Mike Hosking, co-governance, the tightest Budget in a decade, dairy conversions, and why the Government’s not taxing Brian Tamaki.

Plus, why are we spending so much of our precious little money in Northland?

Andrew Hoggard:

The Minister of Biosecurity talks about the Operational Agreement for Foot and Mouth Disease, which seeks to ensure we’re as prepared as possible for a potential outbreak and sets out how a response effort would be funded.

Staying with biosecurity, he also announces the successful eradication of high pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), also known as bird flu.

Stephen Jacobi:

This month’s Global Markets Insight interview features an international trade expert.

Jacobi provides advice to business and government in the fields of international trade, government relations and economic development.

Today, unsurprisingly, Trump’s tariffs are at the top of the menu.

Farmer Tom Martin:

Our UK farming correspondent suggests local elections this week will send a big message to the government.

We also talk about a dry spring, poor commodity prices and the London Marathon.
