Today on The Country radio show, host Jamie Mackay catches up with Philippa Wright, a queen of the Hawke’s Bay wool industry, who is retiring.

She looks back on 48 years in the business.

George Dodson and Hugh Jackson:

Today’s farmer panel comprises the two most recent winners of the FMG Young Farmer Grand Final.

Canterbury’s Dodson won in 2024, and Waikato-Bay of Plenty’s Jackson is this year’s winner.

Philippa Wright:

A queen of the Hawke’s Bay wool industry has sold her wool business in Waipukurau and is retiring after almost 50 years in the industry.

Today, she looks back on 48 years working with wool and forward to a positive future for strong wool.
