Next year the FMG Young Farmer of the Year contest celebrates its 50th Anniversary and who better to have a yarn to about this auspicious anniversary than Te Radar?

The voice of the Young Farmer contest caught up with Jamie Mackay today to discuss the iconic Kiwi event that is already cranking up with district finals taking place right now.

The contest has seen many changes in the past 50 years and represents how the face of farming has evolved says Te Radar.

Other burning issues in today's interview are the Lawrence Lions, the Riversdale Elephant and...is it called the FMG Young Farmer of the Year contest...or competition?
