Two additional properties in the Waimate district - which neighbour Van Leeuwen Dairy Group farms - have been placed under movement controls following suspicious test results for Mycoplasma bovis.
MPI's Director of Readiness and Response Geoff Gywn spoke to The Country about the test results saying that although the spread "is not great news", it is not unexpected.
"This is a difficult disease to find."
Gywn also updates Jamie Mackay on the planning around the cull of 4000 cattle beasts plus the contentious issue of compensation for the van Leeuwan farming group.
