Fonterra's Head of Farm Source for the Bay of Plenty, Lisa Payne caught up with The Country Early Edition's Craig Cumming for an update on the region.

Lisa says there is a lot happening in the Bay of Plenty but most importantly she is enjoying some nice weather for a change. The Director Elections are also taking place and Lisa has been out consulting on the Fat Evaluation Index (FEI) and grading system.

Payne gives Craig a bit of background on why Fonterra is using FEI, what the penalties are associated with it and that demerits will be introduced in Sept 2018

Finally Lisa gives a brief overview of what she's talking to farmers about and what she's hearing from them.
