Kevin "Smiley" Barrett is happy to be the new Norwood Ambassador but he cheekily admits he's "still negotiating" to get a tractor out of the farm machinery company.

The patriarch of New Zealand's Rugby Royal Family joined Norwood chief executive Tim Myers for a chat to The Country's Jamie Mackay about the new ambassadorial role.

First things first though as Mackay wants to know what it takes to "breed so many All Blacks," as three of Barrett's sons, Beauden, Jordie and Scott have all donned the black jersey.

Barrett says it was a joint effort as his wife Robyn has sporting genes on her side of the family as well.

"We decided to have a family early ... we just wanted six healthy kids," says Barrett who eventually ended up with an impressive eight children.
