The Country: We yarn to the world’s best shearer who’s amazingly back on the job in the Hawkes Bay after his winning the world title in Invercargill on Saturday night.

John Kirkpatrick took out the world title at the World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships in Invercargill on Saturday night.

Amazingly he's back in the Hawkes Bay and hard at work already. Kirkpatrick spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay during his lunch break today.

Kirkpatrick impressively won the title at the age of 46. Mackay wants to know what difficulties the shearer encountered in the physically demanding sport.

Further topics include, the great "round" sheep at the competition, other local shearers doing well, and the next World Shearing Champs 2019 coming up in France.

Finally John and Jamie have a shout-out for the wooldhandlers at the championships.
