Cattle disease Mycoplasma bovis has been found in the North Island for the first time with the disease detected in Hastings - one of four new properties that have tested positive.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke to Jamie Mackay about the latest findings, saying the spread of M. bovis is "deeply disappointing."

Ardern says that M. bovis "lies dormant and is slow-moving...which complicates our ability to track and also confine the disease."

Although the Ministry for Primary Industries has many restrictions and tests in place to monitor the disease Ardern says "ultimately we've got to contain this" and the process is "something we are working very hard on."

Also in today's interview; Jacinda Ardern looks back at her first 50 days in office, ponders the latest poll, talks about the euthanasia vote and her recent dealings with Australian politicians.
