The Country: Our Australian correspondent Chris Russell talks about the controversy surrounding the Australia Day lamb promotion and why Aussie sheep farmers are on a real high compared to their Kiwi counterparts.
Chris Russell is our Australian correspondent on The Country. Today he caught up with host Jamie Mackay to chat about the latest Australia Day lamb promotional advertisement which has been copping a bit of flak across the ditch.
Lamb ads for Australia Day have been politically incorrect in the pastbut this year's offering has bucked the trend by celebrating ethnicity in Australia.
So what's the big deal? Some people have complained saying that Aussies "shouldn't be celebrating diversity, we should be celebrating being Australia" says Russell.
Others have gone a step further and suggested lamb be banned on Australia Day in protest against the advertisement "jumping on the bandwagon" of diversity.
