Labour's proposed water tax is neither fair nor well thought out says the President of Horticulture New Zealand Julian Raine.
Raine spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today saying he doesn't believe anybody in New Zealand "owns" freshwater.
"We all use water for a common good and a common purpose"
While Raine admits farmers can use a lot of water through irrigation he doesn't think they should pay for usage and that the flow-on effect of Labour's proposed charges will be passed on to the consumer.
