Fonterra's Chief Operating Officer Farm Source, Miles Hurrell spoke to The Country about last night's very positive GDT auction.

Dairy prices shot up by 4.9 per cent and whole milk powder prices, which have the greatest bearing on Fonterra's farmgate milk price, sold at an average US$3010 a tonne, up 5.1 per cent since the last sale on January 3.

Even though the news is positive, The Country host Jamie Mackay asks Miles how much the result is influenced by Fonterra's milk volumes being down by 6 per cent in December last year.

Also in today's interview: Miles talks about Fonterra's new partnership with Alibaba and gives an update on the Mycoplasma bovis situation.
