The countdown continues to the FMG Young Farmer Grand Final on July 6-8 and today The Country's Jamie Mackay caught up with the Waikato/Bay of Plenty regional winner, Richard French.
Richard grew up on a sheep and beef farm in the Wairarapa and tried his hand at rural banking before
becoming a shepherd. French says the move from banking to shepherding resulted in a rather large pay cut but that doesn't bother him as he loves being out on the farm "doing it rather than talking about it".
Later in the interview Richard talks about his future plans, including farm succession, and his strengths and weaknesses for the upcoming FMG Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final.
