Federated Farmers was involved in creating "Dairy Tomorrow," the new strategic vision for the dairy sector that was announced earlier this week.

Vice President Andrew Hoggard spoke to The Country's Andy Thompson today about "Dairy Tomorrow" and how he thinks it has been received.

Hoggard says the strategy has been in play for a long time and he hopes farmers respond positively to this latest version.

"I think it's a good document, it's showing as an industry where we need to be heading and hopefully people will give it a chance."

Also today Andrew comments on the Mycoplasma bovis situation and says he hopes lessons learned from this outbreak will be incorporated in all subsequent biosecurity incursions.

"The one thing I would take from this whole outbreak is the need for better on farm biosecurity, everyone has to think about how can I make my farm a fortress?"
