The dairy sector has launched its new strategy, Dairy Tomorrow - a joint initiative involving DairyNZ, Federated Farmers, DCANZ, and the Dairy Women's Network.

DairyNZ CEO Dr Tim Mackle spoke to The Country's Andy Thompson to explain Dairy Tomorrow, and the strategy's six commitments and 22 corresponding goals.

The consultation process to create the strategy was "quite extensive" says Dr Mackle and involved farmers and stakeholders.

"Farmers are up for this stuff, they're quite ambitious about where they want to see the sector go."

Also in today's interview: Dr Mackle pays tribute to DairyNZ chairman Michael Spaans who passed away yesterday, saying "he'll be sadly missed."
