The Country: We cross the ditch on Australia day where lamb is on the menu, wool is on a high and a dairy heifer has sold for $250,000!

It would be rude not to talk to Chris Russell on Australia Day. The Country's Aussie correspondent caught up with Jamie Mackay today to give us Kiwis an update on what's happening across the ditch.

Eating lamb is a big deal on Australia Day and sales go through the roof, usually around 25 to 30%.

Continuing with the sheep theme, Russell updates us on the wool market. Wool has hit a record high before consolidating, yet young Western Australian farmers are leaving sheep for cropping as they reckon it's an easier lifestyle.

Further topics include, Trump, tennis and a Victorian heifer that sold for $251,000 - holy cow!
