Today the Government sent out a new ministerial directive to the Overseas Investment Office which will create restrictions on foreigners buying large tracts of New Zealand farmland.
Rabobank's national manager for equity partnerships Brent Irving caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay to talk about the new directive, what effect
it will have on land prices and how much more difficult the directive will make foreign ownership of New Zealand farms?
Also in today's interview: Brent talks to Jamie about good returns for sheep and beef farms, along with whether there is a change in New Zealand's ageing farmer population.
