There's a worrying trend in Australia concerning the sale of wool. Some people have been selling high quality bales and then replacing the good product with inferior wool after the sale.

The Country's Australian correspondent Chris Russell spoke to Jamie Mackay today, saying the practise has been going on since May of this year but only recently picked up when Chinese buyers noticed the wool was not up to its usual high standards.

Another problem facing rural Australia is that kangaroo numbers are out of control.

Chris says the population explosion is due to a combination of the mammals being highly efficient breeders and a lack of market for 'roo meat.

Russell says the market has suffered due to "stupid publicity overseas" with images of people cuddling kangaroos and encouraging others not to eat them.

As a result kangaroo shooters are unable to make a living.
