The Country: The Labour leader denies he’s wanting to increase tax rates and he sings the praise of Maori farming after attending the Ahuwhenua Farming Awards recently in Whangarei.

The Country's Jamie Mackay heard a rumour that Labour Leader Andrew Little wants to increase tax rates. Little quickly quashed this suggestion when he caught up with Mackay today to discuss the Budget.

Little says instead of hiking up tax rates, the Labour party is committed to increasing housing supply, putting money into health and stopping the overcrowding of New Zealand schools.

Along with the Budget, Little talks to Jamie about the line-up of his party and those of his potential coalition parties.

Finally Andrew Little discusses the Ahuwhenua Farming Awards he attended recently in Whangarei, and he was full of praise for Maori farming saying "they've got a lot to be very proud of".

Have a listen to the full interview in the audio clip above.
