Teresa and Geoff Herewini have been selected to compete in this year's New Zealand Country Music Awards.

Teresa and Geoff Herewini have been selected to compete in this year's New Zealand Country Music Awards.

Levin's Pounamu Country Music Club founders Teresa and Geoff Herewini have been selected to compete in this year's New Zealand Country Music Awards, Entertainer of the Year in Rotorua.

The pair, who duet under the stage name Double Blend, first made it to the nationals in 2015 and were runners-up.

Mrs Herewini said she hopes this year they will be "second time lucky".

The couple secured their place at the nationals taking out four titles - best senior male, best duet group, highly commended and best senior overall - at the Aotearoa Waitangi Country Music Awards held in Palmerston North earlier this month.

Mrs Herewini said all their club members who performed at the awards came home with a placing.

"I'm really proud of them all," she said.

The Herewinis said they started the club as a way of sharing their passion for country music with their community.

Country music was a passion they shared, which brought them together for the first time in 2002 at the Te Teko's Texas Country Music Club.

The couple have been singing country music together ever since and made it 'official' by getting married in 2015.

Geoff said when he is not in his shed singing you'll find him at the beach with a finishing rod in his hand.

"My wife is a person with many talents but is too humble to mention them," he said.

On November 4-5 Pounamu Country Music Club will hold its own Country Music Awards at the Cosmopolitan Club in Levin following the nationals being held on October 14.
