The curtain comes down on the major part of the ram sales season on Friday at the Matawhero saleyard with the last of the big stud farms featuring.

Craig and Yvonne Brownlie, from Te Ruanui Poll Dorsets at Waerenga-o-Kuri, traditionally close the ram sales season in the district in style.

They will present 80 Poll Dorsets, 20 Poll/Tex and 20 Suffolks for sale by auction.

The sales action begins at 1pm.

Mark and Rose Candy, from Mangahauhau Hampshires, enjoyed a near total clearance in their sale last Friday - getting 73 of their rams to new homes for good money.

Their top price was $1900 and the average of $1218 was up on last year.

The Brownlies will be hoping for the same sort of buying action and on past performances they should get it.
