Store lamb prices lifted by as much as $10/head and two-year-old bulls sold strongly at yesterday's Stortford Lodge store sale.

The demand was strong for a big yarding of about 5300 sheep of mostly good quality lambs from buyers from Hawke's Bay, Taupo, Waikato and Rangitikei.

An early spring, grass growth, a shortage of stock and rising schedules were cited as reasons for the rise.

In the cattle sale of about 200 head two-year-old bulls made up to $3.29/kg while one pen of yearling bulls made $3.58/kg.
