It was an enjoyable 75th Jubilee for the Poukiore Collie Club earlier this month.

The conditions were glorious and the sheep provided by landowners Stuart and Linda Bradley performed very consistently over March 15 and 16.

Entries were up on previous years, and the courses on the Bradley and Guiniven farms were in excellent order.

Course steward Don Evans set up the shorthead course at Poukiore, as he has done for 50 years.

He's a former publicity officer for the Wanganui Centre, and also a farmer, dog trialist and retired judge.

He doesn't look like giving up anytime soon and was very high in his praise for the club as a whole.

Nathan Bradley kept the family flag flying with his second win at his home trial. He took out the straight hunt with Rip. His Dad, Stuart, has yet to win there.

Graeme Wellington from the Parapara/Makirikiri Club has the leading heading dog in the centre, Rachel, who has 31points. He won the longhead with Rachel and figured in the heads with three other placings.

He was perhaps a little overshadowed by Raetihi's Kathryn Oliver, with her dog Shy, who very decisively won the shorthead 3.5 points ahead.

However Wellington took the trifecta in the longhead at the Eltham Takau trials the same weekend, with Rachel, Murphy and JLo, a great weekend for team Wellington.

The jubilee celebrations on the Saturday night went off well, with speeches and lovely food. There was lots of catching up with old and new faces.

Special mention was made of Dump Nottage, a foundation member who gave 75 years' service and was patron when he died earlier this month.
