A group from a south Waikato iwi is moving to occupy one of the Crafar farms, calling for the land to be returned to them.
The farm at Benneydale, south of Te Kuiti, is one of those being considered for sale to a Chinese conglomerate.
The protestors from Rereahu saythe farm is significant to them as it's where the iwi's chief died.
Edward Emery said about 20 people will hole themselves up at the property for as long as it takes.
"It was 1886 when it got taken off us and we've been waiting here for over 100 years on our marae, been waiting for this opportunity and we want the Government to send a delegation back to the rohi potai so we can discuss it."
