CHB's Ella von Dadelszen, 11, had a busy day at HOY on Thursday competing on Star Waka.

Last week's 2018 Land Rover Horse of the Year show in Hastings was the highlight of the season for many CHB equestrian competitors.

Among the large contingent of CHB riders taking part at New Zealand's biggest equestrian event at the Hawke's Bay showgrounds was Flemington's Ella von Dadelszen, who had a busy day on Thursday contesting the Show Hunter classes on her horse, Star Waka.

Competing on the station-bred horse from Gisborne at just her second HOY show, the 11 year old competed in the Open Pony Championships (90cm) and the Pony Handy Hunter (90cm) events in the Showhunter Pony Arena.

At the same venue earlier in the day, her older sister Hannah competed in the Open Pony Championships (80cm) on her Welsh pony, Matai SB.

CHB horse breeders Kim and Greg Best would have been celebrating after providing the winner of the Norwood Gold Cup, the first major show jumping trophy of the show.

Show jumper Tom Tarver-Priebe, 32, from Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty, won the cup on Popeye, a horse bred by the Bests, who live in Otane.
