Raetihi children will have a chance to try their hand at circus tricks at the Waimarino A&P Show on February 17, show secretary Robyn Hodder says.
It's on at the Raetihi showgrounds from 9.30 to 3pm, with all the usual attractions. Admission is free.
Entertainment for children is providedby the Highly Flammable event entertainment people this year. From 10.30 to 2.30 they will be teaching children circus tricks such as juggling.
There's a tug of war between 10-11am, wood chopping from 10am-3pm and the home industries shed will be open at 1pm for people to view entries and see who has won prizes.
Children get a chance to snatch up lollies in the lolly scramble at 1.30pm, and there will be competitions to judge the number of lollies in a jar and the weight of a sheep.
Agricultural suppliers will have stalls set up, and Raetihi's usual market day sellers will be there too. Side attractions will be provided by Fun Time, with a bouncy castle, obstacle race and bumper balls.
Equestrian sports will happen across the day in an arena. Ms Hodder said the amount of entries is similar to last year. Wins in the sports will count toward the 2018 Horse of the Year Show, which is in Hawke's Bay in March.
The Waimarino A&P Show has been held on the third weekend in February every year since 1913.
