Greenhouse gas grants given

Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry funded New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Centre has announced the first 18 science programmes to get long-term funding, totalling $15.5 million over four years.

The research includes work to reduce methane and nitrous oxide emissions, increase soil carbon accumulation and develop tools to design farm systems that reduce emissions.
