Good prices realised for store lambs

Store lambs and good in-lamb ewes sold well in a yarding of more than 7000 head at Stortford Lodge yesterday.

However, cattle prices were a reflection of the mixed quality of the 75 head on offer.

Buyers for the cattle and more than 7000 sheep were from around Hawke's Bay, Masterton, Gisborne and Taupo.

Prime sale

Cow and lamb prices were strong again at Monday's prime sale but ewe values reflected the quality of the offering.

Agents said the lamb prices were above meat schedules. Most of the cattle offering of 46 head were cows and heifers.
