Spirited bidding at yearling sale.

Spirited bidding at yearling sale.

A fine day greeted prospective buyers to the first yearling auction held by Shaun and Fiona Fouhy at Glanworth on October 4.

These bulls were especially selected for calving ease and low birth weight breeding values. The couple have sold yearlings privately for many years with a reputation for selling easy calving bulls for heifer mating.

All 32 bulls met spirited bidding from local dairy and beef clients. A total clearance of 32 bulls sold at an average $3509, with a top price of $6100, and another at $5200 to a south Island commercial farmer. The family were very pleased with the result from auctioneer Bjorn Anderson and thanked purchasers and under bidders for a successful sale.
